Membership
Rules
1 Membership Qualifications.
Membership in the organization is
extended to persons or firms
involved in, or associated with, the
purposes of the organization.
2 Regular Membership. Regular
membership in the organization is
extended to individuals who are
substantially engaged in activities
compatible with the purposes of the
organization.
3 Corporate Membership. Corporate
membership is extended to any
business, firm, corporation,
institution or individual whose
business is involved in or
interested in the purpose of the
organization. Corporate members may
designate a representative to cast a
ballot in organization elections.
4 Student Membership. Student
membership is extended to students
at the undergraduate or graduate
level who are interested in the
purpose of the organization.
5 Honorary Membership. The board by
three-fourths vote may select
honorary members. Honorary members
shall be entitled to all the
privileges of membership in the
organization.
6 Patrons. The board may by three-
fourths vote, confer the status of
patron on any person who has donated
substantial funds to the
organization. A patron shall be
entitled to all the privileges of
membership of the organization.
7 Member Obligations to Follow
Organization Rules. Each member of
the organization agrees to be bound
by these Bylaws an any amendments
thereto and by the lawful actions of
the Board or voting members of the
organization.
8 Termination. A membership shall be
suspended or terminated whenever the
Board or a committee or person
authorized by the Board, in good
faith determines that any of the
following events have occurred: (a)
resignation of a member, (b)
expiration of the period of
membership ,unless the membership is
renewed on the renewal terms fixed
by the Board.( c ) occurrence of any
event that renders a member
ineligible for membership.
9 Discipline. A member may be
suspended or terminated for cause by
the Board. Cause shall include a
failure in serious degree, to
observe the organizations rules of
conduct as prescribed by the Board
in these Bylaws or otherwise. The
discipline shall occur only after
the member has been given a fifteen-
day prior written notice of the
proposed discipline and the reasons
therefore. The notice shall also
advise the member of the member’s
opportunity to be heard orally or in
writing, not less than five days
before the effective date of the
discipline by the Board or its
designee. The board or its designee
shall determine whether cause exists
and the appropriate discipline, if
any.
10 Member Liability. No member of
the organization shall be personally
or otherwise liable for any of the
debts or obligations of the
organization as specified in the
Florida Nonprofit Corporation Law. |
